Tomorrow, August 13, Dad will be having surgery on his right leg. The doctors hope to be able to take the exterior "cages" off this leg, and replace them with steel rods which will stay in his legs permanently.
The biggest challenge for the orthopedic surgeon is that he must work around the area where the transplanted vein is situated. Please pray that the blood flow in his leg will not be impeded. The tentative plan is for surgery to begin at 11am, and it will probably take approx. 5 hours.

Thanks to everyone who has helped to make our load a little lighter. Thanks for the phone calls (don't be offended if you don't get a call back!), the blog comments (Dad often asks for one of us kids to read them to him), the flowers, and sweet cards. Thanks for taking care of our mom too. Jake- for mowing the yard, Auntie Anne- for spending the night with Dad tonight, Aunts and Uncles- for doing ANYTHING you can. We are blessed.
It's Tuesday evening and tomorrow looks like a big day. Would you pray that surgery would be successful tomorrow? Pray that the surgeons wouldn't run into any complications, that Dad would be in minimal pain afterwards, and that this healing process would go even faster than expected.
The family will probably be in and out of the hospital all day tomorrow, so you might not be able to reach us if you stop in. We've literally almost been living here, so the kids might go out for a few hours while Dad is in surgery. It might be best to wait a few days to visit Dad again.

Wow it has been awhile since I wrote you a note, probably the 8th grade! :) But just wanted to throw a word of encouragment to you that I love you and am praying for you and your dad. You have always been a very strong girl and I believe that strength will come into play now more then ever before.
