We've seen improvements in our dad in the last 24 hours. He's a trooper and already is more coherent and responding to us much more than he was yesterday. When we first saw him yesterday we were very encouraged, because although they said he might no be very responsive, he was able to talk to us and say our names. As the evening went on he was able to talk even more.
He does seem a little discouraged at this point in the game, and we know that your encouragement and thoughts would bless him more than you'll know! He thinks it's great that we started a blog, and seems excited to get better quickly so that he can check it out. Feel free to write a note of encouragement that we can show our dad in the weeks to come.
Thanks also to everyone who has encouraged our mom over the past day and a half. We were blessed beyond belief with the amount of friends and family who have stood by us in the hospital yesterday and even today. Dad had 44 visitors come to the hospital yesterday- he is a LOVED man!
Love,
The Kids
P.S. Mom is planning on posting her own entry telling all of the little details. So keep checking!

Carl, motorcycle accidents aren't supposed to happen- at least not that we (still novice riders) hear about! It's not good for our confidence, if you know what I mean. Know that Mike and I are praying with you all for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery...it just works better that way! :)
Be blessed,
Sharon Martin

Hi Carl,
Just wanted you to know that we are praying for you and trust God for a quick and complete recovery.

Wild man Carl, life is a series of coming and going, starts and stops, accelarations & braking. So you got hit with an abrupt stop. But don't you dare even think about putting the brakes on recovering. Put the hammer down, and accelerate in a full recovery!
May you be encouraged in your recovering by the certain fact that you are needed, that you are a blessing to many, and that your heart to help others will not let cease. Your friend Don is pulling for you. Let me know when you're ready for a visit. The mere thought of your legs taking a beating is not a pleasant matter. Keep the faith, keep the strength, listen to some John Denver music, better yet some 'get-me-healed-and-out-of-here' music, but know for sure that we all are thinking and praying for you. - Don Hess & family
Wow, what a bommer!. But we know you are one tough cookie! Galen says, hurry and get well He needs his usher buddy!!! You will get through this Carl. With God on your side and your wife and kids and all your friends cheering you on, you will be walking in no time. Fan, I am praying for you. Long hospital stays can get very weary. Try to get rest and know that you are loved!!
Carl,Fan and Family...Thinking of you all and praying for a quick and speedy recovery! Thanks for the updates!
Much Love,
Matt, Carmela and boys
Carl - Wow! I was totally stunned to hear about your accident! I am praying for you, and for a speedy and complete recovery that will show everyone God's healing power. That those who believe healings & miracles were for Bible times and not for today will see and know that God works the same now as He did then, and always will! Know that much good can and will come out of this, as God will take it and use it for His glory.
Rest as much as you can and listen to the doctors! They were given the brains to fix us up, and we were given the brains to make and sell gazebos! Everything will be ok!
Stay strong. My prayers are with you and your family. You can do it!
Your smile will be missed...but you'll be back sooner than you think!

Hey Carl, just want you to know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. If you're like me you probably think why would God allow this to happen to me? But rest assured that God always allows things to happen to us for a reason. God has a plan for our lives and we just have to trust him in that. He never gives us more than we can handle and provide us with the strength to face the situation. Just thank God for all the support you and your family receive. May God bless you with a speedy recovery.
Sincerely, Gordie
