A New Day!

Yesterday was a rough day for everyone, but today is a new day and things are going much better!

When I came into the hospital this morning and saw Dad, he looked much better than he had yesterday, but he still had the hiccups. I asked him how he was doing and he said, "If it wasn't for these hiccups, this would be a walk in the park!" All that to say- today is a MUCH better day!
(His hiccups stopped around 1:00 this afternoon, and haven't come back yet. Good news!)

The physical therapists came into his room this afternoon to work with him again. They had been here once before and only got him to scoot around a bit, but not get off the bed. Today they got him onto a wheelchair! After getting situated, he sat there for about 30 minutes and was able to eat a few bites of lunch. It wore him out- he was exhausted afterwards- but it was so encouraging to see him up and moving around more! We are making progress.

We also found out today that surgery on his left leg is scheduled for this Monday, August 18. We're not sure of many other details (times, etc.) but will let you know as soon as we find out.

Thanks for praying!

You go Carl!!! Fan & kids, we are praying for your family each and every day. Remember the footsteps story, when there is only 1 set of footsteps showing in the sand, God is carring you. So just keep taking 1 step at a time and 1 day at a time.... Step by step, day by day God is and will carry you through.

We were very surprised to hear of Carl's accident. Our prayers are with all of you and Carl during this trying time. My God's strength and peace be with Carl and his family. Knowing Carl's determined will and indomitable spirit and God's love we know he will come through this with his usual smile and humor intact. He is really blessed to be surrounded by all his wonderful family and great friends. Love you guys!
